TUTORIAL BY BUMBLESCREW

To start with you will need the right lead to connect your audio device to the PC which is a 3.5mm Stereo Jack To 2 Phono Lead.

I recommend the leads pictured as they are fully shielded with Gold Plated brass contacts for HQ sound & are the leads i use myself. You can buy these on ebay for a few quid & they come in cable lengths of 1 - 5 Meters so make sure you purchase the right length cable to reach from your audio device to your PC.

Once you have the correct lead it's then just a matter of connecting the phono end to your audio device's "Line Out" (which in my case is a separate tape deck) and the other end to the "Line In" on your PC as shown in the pictures below.

Now that your connected it's time to get the correct software to record from your audio device to the PC. There's plenty of different MP3 recording software out there but for beginners getting started i recommend "Super MP3 Recorder Pro" as it's a HQ Mp3 recorder but also very easy to use (If you need help downloading this sofeware for free PM me & i will point you in the right direction)

Once you have Super Mp3 Recorder installed you will need to set the sound levels properly or your recordings will end up either to low or to high & distrorted.

Start a tape/cd playing on your audio device with plenty of bass ect & then click "Option" ---> "Mixer Settings" ---> Make Sure "Line In" Is Checked ---> "Record Volume Control" ---> "Options" ---> "Properties" ---> Make Sure "Recording" & "Line In" Are Checked Then Click Ok (See Pictures Below)

Once you have that sorted roll back a few steps to the small "Record Volume Control" window & adjust it so that the levels on the Mp3 recorder are bouncing no higher then shown in the pic below or your recordings will end up distorted (Make sure you playing something with plenty of bass ect when setting the levels)

You are now ready to make decent quality MP3 rips so just hit record & away you go.
